This week I will be sharing guidance on how to start developing apps and some tips that I’ve learned through my own experience as a developer.
The first step is to choose your path before we delve deeper into the design style programming of Windows Phone. I strongly recommend that you download the Windows Phone Getting Started Guide (GSG) and go through all the steps highlighted in the document and chose your path as pertinent to the OS that is running on your machine.
Some of the advantages of downloading GSG are:
- The guide is a single point of reference for all the resources and SDK links that are current and relevant for Windows Phone app development.
- The latest version of the guide is always available on the DreamSpark site.
- The guide highlights solutions for all the OS/ SDK options that you may have chosen.
Click here to download the GSG, which will help you with building your first Windows Phone app. Below are some resources for more additional how-to instructions for developing:
- Create your first Windows Phone app using Visual Studio 2012.
- Upgrade an app project to Windows Phone 8
- Porting your existing XAML app to Windows Phone 8
Come back to the blog on Wednesday when I’ll share my tips for conceptualizing and planning your app.
